I’ve always been fascinated by how the sea has a life of its own. It holds light, foreground movement and distant stillness all at once. It is never just blue.
That breezy day I couldn’t wait to get home and capture the moment when sunlight filters through the clear water, illuminating the sandy seabed, while a lone motorboat follows the hazy horizon and the waves gather strength before crashing against the rocks.
I was mesmerised by how these elements came together: the stillness in the distance, the shifting light below the surface, and the restless energy along the shore.
To me, the sea is like an orchestra: different instruments, each with its own voice, somehow come together to create harmony.
To create this painting I used various range of techniques- from an old traditional glazing/sfumato (gained its popularity in 16th-17th century) and blending to impressionistic impasto.
This painting would look great in any home décor style. It is ready to hang, can be framed or hung without a frame - this painting is extended over the edges of the gallery wrapped deep canvas, is wired, signed and dated by me.
